Questions, answered plainly.

Does Olycen need an internet connection?

No. Activation is a signed license file you can carry on a USB stick, and the app never phones home. The set dashboard runs on your local network. Cloud delivery obviously needs a connection — and it waits patiently when there is none.

What happens if the power dies mid-offload?

Nothing is lost and nothing lies. Every state change is journaled before the I/O, so on relaunch the job resumes at the exact file it was on. A half-copied file never carries its real name, and it is never counted as verified.

Why does it refuse to say “safe to format”?

Because the evidence is not complete. Usually it is the “two physical devices” rule: two folders on the same disk are one copy. The evidence panel spells out exactly what is missing.

Can post verify my footage without Olycen?

Yes, and that is the point. We write standard ASC MHL v2 next to the media; any MHL tool can re-verify it. Reports come as PDF, CSV and ALE.

Do you support RED R3D and ARRI?

Copy, verification, MHL, reports and delivery work today. Proxies from R3D/ARRIRAW need the vendor SDKs — that licensing is in progress and will land as a free update.

I lost my license file.

Write to us with the email you bought with and we will send it again. The license is yours; losing a file should not cost you a workday.

Is my footage or metadata ever sent anywhere?

Never. There is no telemetry and no account. If something breaks, you choose to export a diagnostics file — it contains logs and summaries, never media — and you decide whether to send it.

Talk to a human

Olycen is a small operation, which means the person reading your email is the person who can fix the bug. Include a diagnostics export (Help → Export Diagnostics…) when something misbehaves and we can usually see it without a call.
